Sun, tacos and Pacific sunsets — without flying across the country
If you live on the West Coast, the Mexican Riviera is your Caribbean. Sail from Los Angeles or San Diego down the Pacific coast of Mexico to Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán — each with its own character, from Cabo's famous rock arch to Vallarta's cobblestone old town.
Take a glass-bottom boat to Cabo's iconic rock arch where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez.
Humpback and gray whales gather off Baja and Banderas Bay from roughly December to March — excursions often see breaching whales.
Street tacos in Puerto Vallarta, fresh ceviche in Mazatlán, and tequila tastings ashore.
No long flights — drive to the port in Los Angeles or San Diego and park at the terminal.
3–4 night Ensenada getaways for a quick break, or 7 nights to see all three major Riviera ports.
This is an example only. Ports, call order and sea days vary by cruise line, ship and sail date — your specialist will find the exact itinerary for your dates.
It is hot and humid from June to September and there's an eastern Pacific hurricane season, so fewer ships sail then. Late autumn through spring has the best weather.
Usually two days at sea each way from Los Angeles. A 7-night sailing lets you visit Cabo plus Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán.
On a round-trip cruise from a US port, US citizens can usually sail with an original birth certificate plus a government photo ID. We still strongly recommend a valid passport — you'll need one to fly home if you ever have to leave the cruise early from a foreign port.
Tell us your dates and who's travelling. A CLIA-certified cruise specialist will compare sailings across cruise lines and call you back — usually within 15 minutes during business hours.
